Book Blogger Hop

As the master of procrastination that I am, I would rather be hopping than doing my tax forms, so here we are!

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy For Books. Each week she asks a question so that blogger can get to know each other a little bit better. This weekend the question is:

What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked? Which have you disliked?

Whenever I get this question I have such a hard time remembering which of the movies I have seen that are based on books. I think this is because to me the book and movie are two entirely different things, so in my mind they are not connected. I like the Harry Potter movies (the 4 I have seen), but I think my favourite has to be Lord of the Rings. Yes, the movies are very different from the book, but they really brought Tolkien's universe to life for me.

Disliked? I was very disappointed in Inkheart, which lacked the magic and atmosphere that make the book so special. And who decided casting Brendan Fraser as Mo was a good idea?

What is your favourite book-to-movie adaption? Are you like me and insist on reading the book before watching the movie?

Just stopping by on the Blog Hop.

I agree with Harry Potter and LOTR as being great adaptations. Even if they didn't necessarily stay as true to the books as I would have liked - especially in the case of Harry Potter - they did a great job of conveying the world created by the author.

I agree, LOTR did a great job of making the Middle Earth world come to life. I also agree that the Harry Potter movies are good, and I like them, but I do wish they could have stayed a little closer to the books in some cases. But they're still good movies!

I'm a bit the same - as I was trying to answer this question I realised I tend to either watch the movie or read the book, rather than doing both. I'd just like to savour each one in their own right. However, I did recently read and watch Water for Elephants and was impressed by how closely the adaptation stayed to the story. I also want to go and see "The Help" when it comes out - that looks fabulous and if it's as good as the book then I can't go wrong!

The LOTR films are amazing. I never got very far with the book so am happy to have the world created for me on screen.

Let’s kick off Memorial Day Weekend with some scandal and controversy.

I absolutely loved every minute of the Lord of the Rings films and felt they hit the mark when they brought Tolkien’s masterpiece to the big screen.

Wait, wait. I can explain! Hop on over to my blog and hear me out – http://www.howardsherman.net

I agree with you on Inkheart. I liked it, but it wasn't nearly as good as it could have been.

Glad to have found you via the Hop!
